When Your Well Runs Dry

Thursday morning brought a new combination of challenges. Not only had the electricity been out overnight for load sharing but I went to the sink to wash my hands and the water only dribbled and then stopped all together. I thought perhaps the overnight outage had somehow effected the water pressure. We called Matilda for assistance and she informed us that the water had "finished." That means that the water supply for the house was depleted. Admittedly, I panicked a bit because that meant no water in the sink or the shower but most importantly, that meant no toilet flushing *cue my public health sensibilities screaming in horror*! Matilda said she would call the water company and they will come to refill the water tank on the side of the house by 10:30a (it was 8:30a). I figured I could "hold it" until 10:30a and we'll be back to normal household functions and get ready for the day. Well, 1:30p (!!!) rolls around and the water truck finally arrives to refill the 500 gallon drum for the house. I was told that there are many water companies and they all have political affiliations so some neighborhoods get serviced more quickly than others. Sounds just like Chicago!

Here are pictures of the guys at work:
